We Are A Confused Nation…….

confused india

Guys,

The anomalies in our country~ourselves – our psyche or processes, our systems; and the weirdness that makes us do the things we do are well reflected in the statements below.

You can say that some of the statements are generalised and that they can apply to the whole world. But that is even sadder. That shows that a certain malaise has set into our psyche, our processes, our very being — that is so entrenched that it will take a major paradigm shift or a major game changer to shake us out of the current psyche and processes and try to adopt better ones.

A policeman kills a leopard that is actually attacking a villager, and instead of being felicitated he is booked for the crime of saving a human being, at the insistence, of some wildlife organisations.

A nation where rice is Rs. 60/- per kg, but a SIM card is free. Where a pizza you have ordered reaches home faster than an ambulance or police, even if you were being attacked or having a heart attack

A nation where a car loan is charged at 5% but an education loan, so necessary for our youth is charged an interest of 12%.
Lost and Confused Signpost

A nation where students with 45% get into elite institutions through the quota system and those with 90% are sent away because of merit.

A nation where Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket teams were auctioned at Rs. 3,300 crores, yet we are a poor country where people starve for two square meals per day.

A nation where a millionaire buys an IPL cricket team, spending crores of rupees, instead of donating the money to any charity.

A country where an ordinary salaried tax payer is fined for error in paying a little less in tax. But the IPL after collecting thousands of crores rupees, has not paid any Income Tax, and nobody has issue on it.

A country where footwear is sold in air conditioned showrooms, but the vegetables we eat, are sold on the footpath and very often next to garbage dumps.

A nation where everybody wants to be famous, not by doing good for others, but by looting others and finally getting their names in the newspapers through some scam or other!

It is a strange nation we live in, where assembly complex buildings get ready within a year while public bridges, flyovers and sea-links take several years even to get off the drawing board and another decade to be completed.

We have malls and fancy sky-rises, with slums forming their boundary wall.

A country where men and women squat on railway tracks, with nowhere else to go, while watching them from windows, are couples with three bathrooms, plus one for the guests.

A country where politicians who are supposed to serve the people, accept money from the same people they are supposed to serve, then take a salary from the government for their services to the people.

We are a nation where we talk in hushed whispers about the corruption in the country and then dig into our pockets to bribe a cop when we are caught cutting a red light.

A country where an individual needs a minimum qualification of graduation to serve in the police department, whereas no qualification is required for the politician to get elected to run the government.

A country where our soldiers are arrested on the border and jailed by neighbouring countries and do not get proper food/facilities, whereas militants/terrorists from neighbouring countries when arrested and jailed, in our jails, are served biryani on demand.

Think about it; we are a confused nation, aren’t we?

About The 4Ms – Music Mirth Moments Money

Hi Guys!!! There are two parts of me — Professional:- I am a marketing & sales person. I started my career as a trainee and worked my way up to Head of Marketing and Sales over the years. I am a Marketing Communications & Financial Investment Consultant. Personal:- I am a hardcore pure blue-blooded “Bandra Boy”. 🙂 For those who don’t know — Bandra is a suburb of Bombay. It is called the Queen of Bombay suburbs. But to me, Bandra is the king of all places. And yes, I still prefer to use the word “Bombay” (instead of Mumbai). “Bombay” has more “namakh” personality and character! Guys, there comes a time in every person’s life when she/he wonders and introspects about one’s professional & personal life. How much is your work keeping you away from your loved ones? Is there sweetness and quality to your life? Is there contentment & satisfaction about the way your life has shaped up? Are there unfinished or unstarted things that you wanted to do when you embarked on your life journey? Do you have enough money stashed away for your retirement, for that dreaded “rainy” day, for your family fun time, for your children’s studies and marriage? The questions are many and most times, the answers are in the negative. In fact, many times, we don’t even know the right answers. Fact is, neither do I know most of the answers. Most of us are pretty much in the same boat. 😉 Through this blog, I will try to assist you, entertain you and keep you informed to the best of my ability and as accurately as possible. Hope you enjoy yourselves. Please do let me have your feedbacks, suggestions and comments. Thank you & Take care! 🙂 Porus D. Tavadia
